Gaining confidence in life

Heb 10:23

- Confession = confidence in God,which is vocal

Heb 11:1

- Feeling confident means you are sure that you have the skills/ability to complete a task, i.e. internal determination that you are sure of your skills & abilitites.
- Feeling of self-confidence can be learned (from 1 task to another).

Questions that we all have:

1) Why aren’t people more confident then?
2) How do you get self-confidence?
3) What are some of the examples?

Things we can do:

- Put down your achievement
- Break task into smaller units/steps
- Learn from mistakes to reinforce your confidence
- Acknowledge your ability

We build our confidence along the way when we acknowledge each step we take.

Mummy’s friends

I went to meet my mum last friday cos’ she wanted to buy some jewellery as dowry for me for my wedding. One of her friend have some vouchers & discounts,so 2 of her friends came along also.

I’m really happy to see my mum mixing with her friends (though when u add the 3 of them together, they can really be like a market) & they can be very noisy..They talked, joked & laughed & I’m really glad that mummy has good friends like that, whom she can go out with weekly, especially she has stopped work since Jun last year.

I see a different side of my mummy where she’s more “I”,joked alot…Maybe my “I” is inherited from her… :)

Now,they go our frequently & they also come to my place once every 2 weeks..As we children expand our social circle,I think our parents should too so that they won’t be bored & their lives can be more meaningful & it will not just revolve around family & children. They should have a change to explore their own world also.

Blessed with Jay Chou’s concert tic

This blog came 1 week later. So,u can imagine how busy I have been.

Anyway,a few months ago,Weng was telling me that he feel like watching Jay’s concert & I happened to have a friend who worked in Starhub. So,I asked my friend is there will be any free sponsorship tic (since she’s in the mktg dept) but she said there wasn’t any & even for herself, she probably have to buy also.

So,Weng had no choice but to for a wedding dinner that he didnt actually feel like going since there was no programme for us last saturday. Then at 7pm last saturday,my friend called me & asked, “Where are u huh? Do u want to watch Jay’s concert? I got 2 extra tic & they are free (the tic costs $108 each).” So I called Weng & he said, “ON! Let’s go & watch!” I thought it was very bad for him to foresake the wedding dinner & he said “never mind lah,I will explain to my army friend.Jay’s concert more important now”.

On the overall, the concert was entertaining,I enjoyed it.I like him in the white jacket, white pants with a white hat,he looked very suave in it.People always say that man looked very “suai” when they are serious..Is true..I never feel that Jay is handsome but he really looked charming when he played the drums & piano.I’m not a big fan of his but I’m impressed with his muscial talents.Besides the guitar, piano, drums,he even played the guzheng..I was like “Wow,he even knows that!”

The only thing that I didn’t really like was his hair.Beatrice & I were saying that we don’t understand how the hair stylist did the hair for him. It was like a “rooster” at the back & a “curry pok” in front..

Despite the slight flaw & some slight sound technical error,it was an entertaining show.
So,here’s a Big Thank You to Sherine… :)

1/2 day at downtown east

See? I can do some other poseAct cute cum “Zhu lian” poseThe Act Cute poseSnap a pic while waiting for cabShe likes to fold her arms, who did she learn from?Where’s the applause?Dancing QueenI have been longing to bring my little darling aka my god-daughter out for a long time, especially since now her mummy is at JW chc.

So,we went Downtown East last friday since her mummy is on leave & I have 0.5 days leave to clear from last year. The sun was scorching hot & I was seriously praying hard that I will not get tanned.Rac Tan asked,”Then u mean u want to be the one looking after the bags meh?” “Of course not! But i still hope that won’t get tanned”

Little Alethea seems not to have any idea what we are going to do or where we are going to play. She seems a little slow to warm up,prob just woke up not too long fm her sleep.

We stayed at the “Professor’s pool” most of the time cos’ she is the reason why we went Downtown East anyway. She’s quite apprehensive abt trying out all the stuff & slides & she really don’t seem to like water falling upon her, although we tried to explain to her is just like rain falling upon her.She will shield her head with her hands to prevent the water from falling upon her.

She seems to set her hands on 1 of the slides where she insist to stay at the exit (where pple will end up after sliding down). We also saw an Eurasian baby whose legs are so fat & chubby that they look like chicken drumsticks.Enqi was so affectionate twd her & even kissed the younger toddler a few times…(looks like maybe she’s really ready to be a big sis)

Both mummy & gan-ma love the jacuzzi pool cos’ of the waves.Enqi seems to enjoy it too & insists on having a tube to herself also. The tube is simply too big for her.She seems to enjoy the waves alot & is excited when she feels that she can lift her legs up & let the waves carry her along.

It was a good way to spend 1/2 day with the people you love (though we feel that the price is ex @ $13.90).

We proceeded for our dinner & Enqi tried charming all the waitresses with her act cute pose.I taught her the “zhu lian” pose (where she will pout her nose & mouth while closing her eyes)..hahha..she really learns things fast..So adorable..Must keep telling her that I am gan-ma,if not, wait she forget..

Hopefully,it won’t be too long where we can bring her out again..

After that,we went sight-seeing at Holy House of Mercy,Senado Square,Ruins of St. Paul’s,Mount Fortress. We really like these few places cos’ it carries a different beauty. It has a charm on its own & I love the colonial building, etc. We also went to Fisherman’s Wharf where it is another beautiful place.Strolling down the streets, holding hands together, enjoying the wind & the peace & tranquility it brings.

Before the sun sets,we head to Venetian. It is huge & the thing I like abt it is the river canal that connects the whole building. You have to go & visit for yourself for the experience. It cost MOP120 for the boatride in the canal & the “rower” actually sings songs though I can’t make out what they are singing.. Hahaha..Overall,I like the feel & looks of the building.

We also drop by the casino to visit.I find it boring here cos’ I don’t understand any of the games & I feel heartache for those hard-earned money, esp when I see an elderly man (who is old enough to be my grandpa) losing his money.Plus,it doesn’t help when people smoke in this air-conditioned place. You can go for the experience as it is agst my belief to gamble.

Here are some pics of Macau & Venetian..

Hong Kong 3

Crabs tucked nieatly in rowsOur shadowsPretty gals - me & AdeLast grp pic b4 we part our waysStreets of HKYau Tiao wrapped in Chee Cheong Fun..slurp..Superb breakfast demo by Ah Jie & AlexI love the breakfast. It was a spread of porridge, yao tiao, chee cheong fun, soyabean milk. The porridge is called “Ting Zai Chou”; a mix of peanuts, sotong, meat, is very smooth & nice.I never tasted such nice porridge in Spore, even the porridge stall in Chinatown lose to it.The soyabean is not too bland nor too sweet.I enjoyed it very much.

After breakfast,we parted into 2 groups cos’ 3 of the girls decided to stay 5 days in HK & they are going to Disneyland this day.As for the rest of us (2 girls & 3 guys),we went to Lai Chi Kok,Grandveille Rd,Nathan Rd for more shopping.

Lai Chi Kok is their wholesaler & supposedly to be cheap. But it turned out to be a disappointment too.Firstly, all they are selling is winter wear; secondly, they clothings aren’t really nice; thirdly,I don’t find them cheap.I only bought a wool material hat cos’ is so cold that my poor little ears are suffering.Well, this hat has a name, “Xiao Er”, affectionately given by Mr Chua Renjie. You will know why I post the pic (u hv to wait a while cos’ I need to wait for all the pics to be given to me).All the shops sell woman wear & I was thinking to myself that the guys are quite poor thing.Nothing for them & they must be at some cha chum teng, slurping kopi & waiting for us.Thank God,they manage to find some shops nearby that sells Umbro sportswear. My darling managed to buy sports shoes & bad & he’s seems pretty happy with that.

At Grandveille & Nathan Rd,we finally came across a few shops that sell guys stuff. But,they still ended empty-handed.Either the clothes are not suitable for Spore weather or the size/price is not right.

Finally,we ended at this mall along Prince Edward & the moment we saw many shops selling guys,me & Ade were so excited that we quickly rush to tell the guys.I’m really surprised that the “King” of Shopping - Renjie didn’t buy anything at all.My darling bought 3 T-shirts at a good of of HKD140 & a jacket.I bought a dress that I intend to wear for my ROM,it costs HKD200,is satin gold color & it looks sweet.

Finally,we had a quick dinner & reach hotel at 9.30pm to rush to catch a ferry to Macau.

Alas,we were cheated by the hotel cos’ they told us that there was still ferry to be taken at the ferry terminal. But what a shock we had when the cleaning lady told us that the last ferry already left at 9pm.In the end,we have to take another cab to another place to take a ferry.By then,I was already super tired & I had motion sickness.I felt so uncomfortable, dizzy & wanting to puke in that 45 mins to an hr ferry ride.

Once the ferry reached the shore,I felt weak in the stomach & super giddy.I pucked in the toilet at the terminal.Argh! That was really gross & sick.

We only mangaged to check in to the hotel after past 11pm.The hotel also gave us a little hiccup over the extra bedding & wanting to charge us extra for that when it has actually been paid for when we first booked the hotel.

We still went for supper after that but I really can’t stand the “chimmey smoke” in a aircon cha chum teng.I was just so pissed off by it & in no mood to eat & all I wanted was to walk out of that place. My mood just sank & my nose immediately acted up & soon,I was “wrapping wanton”…Sigh…

Hong Kong 2

The Peak 6The Peak 5The Peak 4Ah Jie Pretty Boy Pose..The Peak 3The Peak 2Braving the cold strong wind for a poseThe Peak 1Our breakfast is a sumptuous & expensive tim sum at this place called Maxim,a restaruant located at City Hall.Along the way while trying to find the restaruant,we saw many Philipino maids along the tunnel & they brought mats, food, card games, music, etc & were just fellowshipping among themselves, totally oblivious to the stares of many.It reminded me of our Lucky Plaza on a weekend.

Seriously,I think the maids in HK are paid very well cos almost all of them carry a Prada or Gucci or LV bag.Though there are some that are “cheong” goods but some are real. They seem to be very happy also, doing line dancing at the open area.No wonder maids don’t like to work in Spore. Is this something for us to ponder over?

After our meal,is more shopping & more shopping at Prince,Granveille Rd,Nathan Rd,Causeway Bay,Tsim Sha Chui, etc. In case you think that I bought lots of stuff,I think the shopping there is a disappointment.I didnt enjoyed it at all.I think the guys are more poor thing cos’ there is no guys stuff at all in the few malls that we went.In the end,the guys just went to Starbucks to rest & wait for us.

I think the walking that I did in one day can sum up to probably 2 weeks of walking that I do in Spore. My legs, esp my little toe aches.

The highlight of this second nite is “The Peak”.

We took the cable tram up & it is really an experience. When you are in the tram, everything is no straight at all as the journey is slant along the route.
The nite sceneary of HK is really beautiful & you can really see it from The Peak.It was freezing cold & we all trembled & shivered. But still,we brave the cold harsh wind, took quite abit of pics.It was really a beautiful sight that I won’t forget.Spore can’t beat it.It was worth the cold wind.

Group PicAh Jie’s masterpieceAt cityhall, near where we had the nice but expensive tim sumReaching countdown destination soon..Shivering in the cold while on our way to countdownOverhead bridge along Fa Yuen StreetMy first bite of HKIt was a jittery start, early in the morning.

One of us was in a super unhappy mood & I felt the tension among the group.I was wondering if this trip is going to be enjoyable & do we have to all put up with the “tanturm” & was praying within my heart that it better be good.

It was a rush, having to reach Macau by plane & followed by a ferry ride immediately to Hong Kong.I just had to grab a bite when we reached Macau airport. It was soya bean milk & a pork bun.It tasted nice but I attributed it to the fact that I’m hungry.Once we checked into the hotel,we hit for the “cha chum ting” for our late lunch at almost 2+ in the afternoon.

After that,we went to the shopping malls. As it is winter period, everywhere is selling winter clothes, though they are quite nice but they aren’t suitable for Spore weather at all.I don’t find the price cheap either.I only bought a DVD of the Korea drama serial - Coffee Prince at the “Tung Choi Street”.We walked quite a bit, passed their version of market, experienced their lifestyle.

I got to eat my fave “wanton noodles” for dinner & it was nice. The wanton is wrapped fully with fresh prawns & meat, unlike those in Spore.I will really missed the wanton noodle.

We went back to hotel to rest for awhile & went out again at around 11pm for the countdown.Perhaps we were at the wrong place for the countdown but it was a little disappointing. At first,I thot that they were rehearsing the fireworks as it started at ard 11.45pm but it was a bit by a bit.Even after pass 12 midnite,it was still the same. So,my conclusion was there was nothing to clap & shout about.
That’s my first nite in Hong Kong - lots of walking at the Ladies Mkt,Tung Choi Street,Fa Yuen Street,Mong Kok Centre, etc.
