CG BBQ Happening soon

My CG is organizing a BBQ next week & I’m very proud of all my members. Instead of always waiting for instructions from me, they started the ball rolling by booking the pit, planning the food & even automatically inviting their friends to join us.

It started with one member emailing everyone to confirm if they can make it & somehow, the chain of emails started by the rest saying what they can help out with. Hmm.. Is this a hint to me that maybe next time I shall leave it to them to plan such outings/fellowship sessions? :P Probably when they begin to do it,there is a sense of belonging & ownership.

I’m really happy to see all of them putting their help & volunteering their service to make the BBQ a success. Now,we have to pray for good weather & all the friends will turn up & everyone will enjoy themselves and know one another even better.

I did it – my latest hairstyle

After much thoughts & struggles, I have finally decided to take a step of faith to perm my hair. I have always rejected or “not open” to it cos I always feel that permed hair makes one look older. Of course, those who have permed hair will say that the technology used nowadays is different.

Well,I did it…Except for the fact that my hair is pretty dry now at the ends due to the chemicals,I’m still quite satisfied with it. But it does need some time to get used to the new look. Meanwhile, dear dear will just have to endure me complaining that my smooth hair at the ends is gone but now I have to keep conditioning & applying intensive treatment on my ends to regain back their former glory.

First Article

I have just written my first article for Singles Committee and this is supposedly going to be posted on Citynews. I’m excited about it cos’ I can finally write something. This is an opportunity for me to practice and polish up my skills.

I have always love writing but never have I discovered my style as there wasn’t any opportunities and I’m not trained in this area either.

Whatever it is, I’m just glad and happy.

Act of kindness

It is not a common sight to see acts of kindness in our daily life & even though they are complete strangers to me, I wanted to write this blog to remind myself & also to applaud all these unseen & unsung kind souls.

While on the train this morning, 3 elderly folks stepped in at the Bedok stop & immediately, 2 men and 1 lady stood up to offered their seats. There wasn’t any delay or hesitation. They just sprung to action. I almost wanted to say “Praise The Lord” but I didn’t. These were middle-aged men & lady & it is a shame that sitting on that row were students & working adults (who pretended to sleep).

When was the last time we offered our seat to someone else who are more in need than us? The next time when opportunity knocks, pls sprung into action instead of having a “delayed response”.

This is not the scientific notion that we all learned in school.

Beneath this notion is an even greater power & source that we can all tapped on. I was simply awed by the tests/experiments done by the Jap scientist that Pst shared during last sun svc. The book of Jeremiah says that “God’s thoughts toward us are positive, good & is to give us a future & a hope”. This is not a new concept or new revelation and it has been in the bible for the last 2000 yrs.

It is not something that we are unfamiliar with but we probably have never really tapped into it frequently. Most of us will say or even preached about it, “There is power in our confession”. Then why is it that we are still so defeated in life sometimes & we feel so crippled & so inadequate? Because we have never spent enough time letting the Word of God sink into our mind.

The mind is powerful & the devil knows that if he can control our mind,he can control the whole course of our life. That’s why the bible says that we need to put on the mind of Christ & let our mind be renewed by the Word.

From this day onwards, I want to stop saying the negative words, stop having negative thoughts towards our aspect of my life. I want to start saying positive words, thinking the thoughts that God has toward & for me. I know is going to be challenging for a start but I’m going to do that. I want to live the high level of life that my God has intended for me since the beginning.

Trim & Fit

I am pleased with myself. I have fulfilled 2 of the things that I wanted to do during my leave – I have gone to the gym on wed (thanks to my mbr who got 1 week trial pass for me) & I just had a game of badminton with my ZS this morning.

It sure feels good to exercise & let your heart pump with adrenaline. Next on the list of exercise is to go swimming (hee.. I have a mbr who stay in a condo)… Maybe I can chio some of my other members to go with me.

Handicapped with no pc

I was at Suntec office earlier as I was fellowshipping with my ZS today. I was talking to beatrice how I feel handicapped without a desktop or laptop during the day. I can’t check my email, blog or even surf the net for information. I have to wait for dear dear to come back before I can do it.

Somemore, I need to write 2 articles in the coming week(s). BF is coming soon & I really don’t want to spend unnecessary & stretch the commitments. Should I get a laptop now? Or am I just thinking of it on impluse?

Cut & Curl

I have been thinking of cutting my fringe short lately. At the same time, I’m also thinking of changing my hairstyle & am considering to curl my hair. Ever since I had my wedding shot for the album & the actual day, I realised that actually curled hair on me doesn’t seem so bad.

I always feel that curled hair seems to make one older but of course with the latest trend & technology, curled hair now brings a new meaning. Some gals really look great with them, adding a touch of “nu ren wei” & still look young & pretty.

Should I go ahead to cut my fringe & curl some of my hair? Hmmmm…..

Currency exchange frenzy

Today, I passed by several money changers at The Arcade & all the Q are super long. Later in the evening, I was at Chinatown with my mum & all the Q at the money changers are crowded..

I know that AUD has dropped quite drastically but has this cause a frenzy in everyone changing their money, resulting in a shortage of AUD? You mean suddenly, everyone became so “investment savvy”, knowing how to take opportunity to switch to AUD (no offences)?

So, does it imply that the next time whichever currency drop, people will start changing money again? Or is it really because of the economic situation that causes everyone to have the mentality that “better to keep money in the house than in the bank”?
